What Makes You Homesick?

With the holidays upon us it is a great time to address what makes us homesick. Traveling home for the holidays or leaving home from the holidays, we have all felt what it is to be homesick. Once you have made a place a home it is always hard to leave it. We leave behind people, memories, and conveniences we love.

I remember it being the best thing in the world to get something from Colorado I couldn't find in Scotland. Now that I'm back in Colorado I get homesick for things I once loved in Scotland. I begin to miss the walks I used to hate when it was freezing or raining. At the time I knew I would miss it when I left it but you don't truly feel it until it is no longer at your disposal.

I miss the friends I made all over the world and try to visit who ever I can when traveling the world. This is how I have created some of my fondest memories. Being home there are plenty of time for memories but we choose to get stuck in our routines and miss out on the opportunities. Make time for memories! They are part of the best experiences of life. As you shop and open gifts for Christmas remember to also focus on the time with your families or friends. Material things will always be there for you to have but the people and pets we love will not.

Leaving the country you reside in you miss having data on your phone readily available that doesn't cost anything extra. Not having to live off of your power bank for the day, or not having place to go relax after you have checked out and need to wait to go to the airport, not having a kitchen or groceries to cook with when you want to. You miss the little things. They are small sacrifices to make to live life.

Everyone likes stuff but in the end it becomes clutter. Give yourself a Christmas gift or make it a New Years Resolution to experience life! Whether it be going on the epic adventure you have always wanted to go on on friends you have been saying you have been wanting to visit, make time! Why wait? This was kinda hoe Travelista Life was started, friends meeting friends in a country we always wanted to experience. This is how we became life long friends. Every time we meet we create some of our most memorable jokes and memories.
